I Want A Psychic Power by Cynthia Eden

Today it is my great pleasure to introduce Cynthia Eden. I invited her here after I couldn't put down her new release, Hotter After Midnight. Cynthia writes about a therapist who treats the supernatural - vampires with blood phobias, sex-demons looking for meaningful relationships. Her books are unique, action packed and addicting.

I Want A Psychic Power
By: Cynthia Eden
(Thank you so much to the Wicked Authors-and particularly to the wonderful Angie-for inviting me over today!)

With every paranormal book that I write, I find myself wanting my own psychic powers (or, just "power"-I won't be greedy!). It would be so handy to have a special psychic talent. My life would become so much easier if I had one of these little talents…

Telepathy (My husband would always know exactly what I wanted!)Precognition (I'd pick the best lottery tickets ever!)Or some good old fashioned ESP…

Ah, a girl can dream.

I really became hooked on psychic powers when I was doing the research for my May 08 Kensington release, HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT. In that book, my heroine has empathic powers (and I've always wanted to be able to pick up the real feelings of others, and not just see what's on the surface). The little glitch for Dr. Emily Drake (my heroine) is that her powers only work with the Other. Put her in a room with a vamp, and she'll be able to tell you exactly what the guy is feeling. Since she's a psychologist who only treats paranormal patients, she does have a bit of an edge with the supernaturals.

But surely I'm not the only one who longs for a bit more power. Is there a psychic power you'd like to have? And why do you want it? Leave me a comment about your psychic wish, and I'll pick one commenter to receive an autographed copy of HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT.

*waving* Hi, Eden!

I would like to have telekinetic power (think Judd in Nalini Singh's Caressed by Ice *wicked grin*) Would be great to be able to clean the house while sitting down with a good book *wink*

Hi, azteclady! Oh, I love Judd--and that sure would be a handy talent to have! :-)

Angie, thanks again for having me over today!

I would love to have the power to freeze time. I remember watching Out of This World on TV as a kid and I thought freezing time would be the coolest power ever.

Thanks for the insight into your books. I haven't read them, but I will have to check them out!

As for a psychic power, I think I would like the power of preminition. If something is going to happen, a heads up would be great.

Thanks again!
Katie

I had the joy too of reading HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT. I was beyond thrilled reading this book. It was like nothing I ever read before because it had a unique take on how she was psychic. I so recommend you run out and get this one too! I can't wait to see what Cynthia will write next!

Mmmm, for me, I'd love to have that skill to know when things will happen before they do, like the toast popping up, LOL. I'm sure there is more, but thats the first thing that came to me!

Don't put me in the contest, I had the joy of reading HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT already. Thanks!

Don't enter me! I have a well-read copy of my own. *G*

I would like the power of precognition. To be able to help others before something goes wrong.

I'm with azteclady, telekinetic is the power I'd love to have. Being a quadriplegic it would come in handy! Ever since I saw the movie Carrie I have wanted the power of telekinesis. I'd only use it for good, unless provoked. ;)

Cynthia Eden said...

Hi, Rachael! Now freezing time-that would be a cool power. Like Piper in Charmed--I used to love it when she froze time!

Hey, Katie! Thanks!! And I could sure use a heads-up in life too--wouldn't that be fabulous?

Cynthia Eden said...

Oh, Caffey--you are too kind, lady!! :-) I am so very glad you enjoyed Hotter After Midnight.

And that psychic talent would be pretty handy!

Thanks, Caffey!

Hiya, Brandy! Precognition is one of my absolute favorites. Wouldn't it be great if we could predict bad events ahead of time--and prevent them?

Susan, I will definitely remember not to provoke you! :-) The first time I saw Carrie, I have to confess, I think I was more jealous of her psychic powers than I was scared of the movie. If only...

Power of Persuasion - I want to be able to persuade my family that cleanliness and picking up after themselves is the number one priority in their lives... do you think that would work?
OR failing that I'd like precognition, to be able to know something might happen and prevent it.. such as the incident with the box full of milk powder and the shag pile carpet... it would have been handy... or as you say picking lottery numbers, that'd be nice.

Cynthia Eden said...

Natalie, how could I have forgotten the all powerful...power of persuasion? LOL--now that could really get a person out of a few binds!

I was going to say telepathy as that would be cool being able to say what you want without others around being able to hear, but now I really like azteclady's idea of telekinetic (loved Judd, too) powers to clean the house - I hate housework!

You said it, Caffey. That's what struck me about Hotter After Midnight as well. I read a lot of paranormal and this book is just so different, so good.

As far as a power, I'd like the ability to be invisible. That way, if I'm lounging on the couch, reading a book, and someone wants to interrupt. Poof! No more Angie. Move along - no one to disturb around here...

Hi Cynthia,

I would love to have the power of precognition. All the powers that were mentioned are great...invisibility would be nice too.

I would be a bit nervouse to have a power though, because I think that it would be a powerful thing.

Ooh, Ooh, can I be a telekinetic, precog who can turn invisible? LOL That would be awesome to be able to pick winning lottery numbers and save people from harm while sitting on a couch reading where nobody can see me AND the house gets cleaned without my lifting a finger! :D If I had to pick just one it would be precognition though.

What if you could have all these things plus a matter converter like in Star Trek where all you have to do is say 'large Mediterranean pizza double anchovies and olives' and hey presto there it is... or 'Matthew McConaughey in a sexy mood wearing next to nothing' thanks...

I'd like to be able to know the future, could be a fun one or I can change it to kake it fun. :)

Cynthia Eden said...

Pam, I keep hoping for powers like those--but, unfortunately, none have manifested so far--and my laundry pile just keeps growing...

Oh, Angie, invisibility would rock! Have you read the old Anne Stuart book, Cinderman? One of the powers the hero gets in that book is invisibility. (I loved that book!)

Hi, Lori! You're brought up a great point--we'd have to be very careful with our powers! What's that line from Spiderman? (I could be so misquoting here...) "With great power comes great responsibility." :-)

sidhevicious--I think you just picked the perfect power(s). LOL.

Oh, Natalie...I'd like an order of Matthew, please...

Hi, Dina! I'm always so curious about the future. I'd love to know what my life would be like five years from now.

Thanks for all the comments, ladies!

I would love to have the power to read a mans mind *g* Even though we know sometimes their minds can be dirty LoL

In a book I recently read By Annette Blair the heroine was able to read the hero's mind and knew all the kinky things he wanted to do to her. I thought it was so cool & hot at the same time :)

Congrats, Susan!

And, Cynthia, thanks so much for stopping by. As always, it was great to see you.

Oh and while we're all still here, I'm changing my answer. I want to trade the invisibility for Natalie's ability to conjure up Matthew McConaughey in a sexy mood.

Thank you so much!

I came across a book by Marjorie M. Liu 'Eye of Heaven' that had a hero with the ability to shut down all things electrical. I think this is the power I would want. I mean think of the implications. A possible scenario, you catch a terrorist about to blow up something. Shut down the bomb and have the gratitude of all your peers as well your country of origin. Defintely my kind of day.

I'm late, as usual. I've always wanted to fly, but that's not really a psychic power. More of a supernatural one. I guess I'll choose telekinetic too. It's that house cleaning thing. Irresistable to writers. :)

Oh I missed the contest! I am dying to get a book by Cynthia but I haven't managed to yet!
