Angie Fox's Merry Christmas book giveaway!

'Tis the season for fun and, well, the Fox clan started early last night. The idea hatched during dinner. One person suggested it...another person chimed in and pretty soon we were all rushing for the tree to open early Christmas presents.

We did just one each. It was a neat surprise and I liked that every gift was appreciated and, in the case of the kids, danced around. Sometimes, when you get too much at once, a bit of the excitement for each goes away. That's my excuse, anyway.

And it has me thinking - why not dig into some holiday book giveaways? I can't guarantee these goodies will show up on your doorstep before Christmas (and certainly not before Hanukkah) but they can be a fun, post-holiday treat.

So give us a shout-out. Post your favorite/least-favorite thing about the holidays and you're entered to win one of five copies of The Real Werewives of Vampire County!

Honestly, it sounds cheesy, but it's the time spent with my family. We tend to keep it to the three of us, and we have a happy, fun day of games, food and talk. It's wonderful.

Favorite: the look on someone's face when they unwrap the perfect gift that you got them. Least favorite: I work in retail, and the stress regarding the holiday season makes for some very difficult (putting it mildly) customers.

The kiddos excitement when they wake up and see all the gifts under the tree, how their little faces light up.

Parking anywhere. It sucks! Plus people drive like crazy. I almost got run over two days ago while I was pushing a shopping cart with my youngest kid inside!

Bah-humbug!

My favorite thing is the expression on my children's faces when they open their gifts. We never get them too many because like you I think that the excitment is lost when they have a sea of gifts. It is always nice to watch them make gifts for their grandparents too. i get lots of crafts and they sit at the table making them..it is a wonderful time at our house :)

Least favorite is putting myself out much more than anyone else.

My favorite is spending time with my family. My least favorite is how everyone seems to get more ME! ME! ME! every year. It seems to be who can get the most gifts for the family. Or the best, biggest, etc. It's just sad.

I love the cookies, delicious meals and sitting in front of the tree with Christmas lights on snuggling with my love and watching a Christmas Story, reciting all the lines. Dislikes are the way people are so angry at the stores, especially to the clerks...it's not their fault the lines are long...it's the time of year to spread joy, not hatred!!!

My favorite thing about the Christmas season is time set aside. We set aside time to socialize, visit, travel, vacation, give gifts, receive gifts, eat special foods, and a dozen other things. The best, I think, is that we give ourselves permission to be special to those who are special in our lives...and that can be an amazing gift.

Least favorite, spending it alone

Most favourite- the lights all over at night.

Least favourite- shopping in stores, especially with mean & rude people.

My favorite thing about Christmas is watching my son's face light up when he opens his presents.
The thing I hate most about it (this year) is that I'm pregnant and had to quit work because I'm high risk, so everyone else has bought his presents this year. Makes me feel like a crappy mom, cause I didn't get his gifts this year.

What I don't like about Christmas is the consumers point of view. In the shops you can get pre-packed gifts and special offers ... - I really don't like it. I think gift giving should be about the person the gift is for. I support personal presents, presents with meaning, not generic ones, which are found everywhere.

In Slovenia we don't have Santa so there is no gift giving (originally, but lately we've been getting quite Americanised). I love it when we're decorating Christmas tree (it's plastic because this way it's more ecological, there is no mess and bunny won't eat it ... too much) and making Christmas crib. We (meaning whole family + occasional pet) make it huge - about two square meters; it has lake, 'river', caves (or more correctly: whole cave system), roads, sometimes highway (my brothers idea), etc. We usually quarrel (house bunny gets really mad when we try to convince him not to eat all the moss), eat and laugh. It's about time spent together. Christmas isn't too cheesy in our family because we are quite differently opinionated (we quarrel but we make up later) but that makes it fun and warm (cause we know that no matter what, we are there for each other) - I think that is the main point of being human and Christmas.

This year, I'm going to my parents' HOME for Christmas. So my two fave things are: free shipping!!! and taking Grandpa's tractor out into the woods to cut down our own tree.

Favorite: Baking Christmas goodies all day and giving them away to my neighbors. The surprise and joy on their faces is something that sticks with me all year round! Least: Always moving and never being close to our families for the holidays. Or should that go under favorite too? :D

I'm A widow. Sometimes I get to visit my son for Christmas in CA. So I am alone on Christmas day sometimes. I am comfortable with that. He always calls. So those are special times with or without him in person.
My favorite things are the Singing,The Joy of Christmas, Food and many Friends. We always have several parties to attend. It is fun to see all the decorations and lights and hear the laughter.
Tomorrow our Jewels Breakfast Club will meet and play a special bingo one of our members has created. We will enjoy each others company, and have a small gift exchange. Jesus' Birth, Fun, Joy and Happiness.
Merry Christmas and The Best New Year Ever!

First, I am 62. My favorite thing about Christmas is from long ago. My parents ould get the tree and set it up about 3 days before Christmas ans tell us that elves decorated the tree ( I believed this til preteen). Day before Christmas we would wake to the tree glowing and sparkling!! I would sit for hours watching it. (large lites that did not twinkle) I was in awe of the elves! I never noticed that no gifts.. That nite we would go to Pauldy's house and eat big dinner, play games and enjoy the neighbors. Never expecting that our parents snuck out and put gifts under the tree.. I was little, so I would end up asleep so Dad would carry me home and my brothers, exhausted stumbled with Mom home. None of us the wiser. Christmas morning we were surprised to find the gifts and goodies. Make note, my family was from "old country" Poland, and every year by first of Dec we would go thru toys and clothes and they would be shipped to family in Poland. We took great care with our toys knowing they would be going to family that had no Christmas. My parents were wonderful and knew CHRIST was in Christmas.

My favorite part of Christmas is spending time with family especially watching the grandchildren open their presents and the expressions on their faces. We like to make opening presents fun and love to make everyone 'work' for their gift. Let's just say we take stock in duct tape and we have learn to be creative. This Christmas trend has made opening presents fun and no one knows what 'Grandma' will do next.

peggylbrown said...

My favorite time of the Christmas is spending time with family - especially watching the grandchildren opening their gifts. We take special pride in making each gift wrapping unique. Let's just say we take stock in duct tape. Unique gift wrapping has become a family tradition and everyone looks forward to just how creative each one can get and the laughter that comes from watching everyone figure out how to open their gifts is priceless.

Love seeing my daughters general happiness during the holidays.I also enjoy the decorations, as so many are old and bring back memories.

What I'm not keen on is everyone getting colds and too many sweets.

I love surprising everyone with their gifts!

Hate being cold in the snow though :)

Favorite... seeing family that we don't see all the time (small though our family is) and watching the kids opens mounds of presents.

Least... Snow, I'm from Michigan so it can be a pain trying to get to the Christmas celebration at my brothers. Although the parking lots are a close second.

Merry Christmas and a Blessed Yule

First I want to say Thank you for the awesome holiday giveaway! My favorite thing about the holidays is the magic and wonder of it all. Even now at 30 I still anticipate Christmas morning. I love to watch my family open their gifts and eat the food we have prepared.
My least favorite thing is last minute shopping. No matter how many lists are made there is always that one thing I seem to forget. Either its a gift or ingredient for a recipe I can never quite remember it all.

I miss my son and daughter-in-law, who live, in Denver; but this Christmas is great because we are visiting them. So for me it is a very Merry Christmas!!!!!

My favorite thing would have to be the holiday lights and decorations and maybe even the holiday movies although lately I read more than I watch TV. :)

My least favorite thing would have to be the surge in traffic and the rudeness of people this time of year. I just don't get that. What is it about the holidays that turns so many people into jerks? LOL

Thank you for the chance to win The Real Werewives of Vampire County. From the first time I learned of this book, I've been wanting to read it. Just sounds like it would be a fun read. :)

I love decorating the house, grilling shrimp (yes , I know we live in Wisconsin, but my hubby looks so cute all bundled up, turning the skewers) for Christmas Eve dinner, and opening presents. Then we drink a little cheer and watch a classic Christmas movie...this year we out voted hubby..it will be A Christmas Story instead of It's a Wonderful Life. LOL!

My favorite part of the Christmas holiday is spending time with our 4 and 6 year old little girls. Everything from decorating the tree to singing Christmas songs horribly off key with them is magical.

The look on my son's face when he is opening his gifts is the best holiday memory. He becomes so excited over the littlest present. He is so innocent and full of joy that it brings me joy!

My favorite things about Christmas are Christmas lights and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. My least favorite thing about Christmas is the shopping frenzy, especially the whole Black Friday thing. I avoid stores as much as possible during this time, shopping online is so much better.

Favorite - Spending time with my significant other's family. Yeah, I can actually say that I've got wonderful in-laws! =^-^=

Least Favorite - Dealing with the craziness that is holiday shopping. The closer to Christmas it becomes, the more chaotic it is around the shopping centers.
