I'm Ready for the Closeup, Mr. DeMille!

Last spring, I had the surreal (but definitely fun) experience of taping a TV show.  It's called "Deadly Affairs" and it airs on the Investigation Discovery Channel.  My segment is called "Recipe for Disaster," the story of a real-life murder that happened here in Northeast Ohio.  The show re-creates scenes of the relationship and murder and various people involved (the cops, reporters and in this case, the mystery writer who's narrating as my alter-ego, Kylie Logan) do little segments.

Just found out my episode of "Deadly Affairs" airs this Saturday, September 21, at 10 pm.

Enjoy.  And be kind...I've never done anything like this before!

Roxy Mews is here, with a giveaway for A Love Worth Biting For!

A Love Worth Biting For is a book that began with the feeling I got when I met my husband.  The opening scene in this book is exactly how I felt when I saw my man run by me all athletic and…sweaty and…yup it felt like I was knocked off my feet to say the least.

Now, is my husband a tall, dark, and bitey vampire?  No, dammit, but sometimes my mind wanders, and it wandered into a world where the love of your life is chosen for you by forces beyond your control.  I certainly felt like I had no choice but to go after the man I loved, and I began writing about a character drawn to the one they would love for eternity, because the rest of their life just wasn’t long enough.

And I have a thing for men that bite.

Amber Paulson is the main character in my first book.  This story is told from her point of view.  I don’t want to admit how much she is like me, but I will say that her vocabulary is a product of my own foul mouth.  I really enjoy cursing, and as I have grown older, I seem to care less and less what the people around me think.  Having super-human strength and healing, like Amber does, had me imagining what I would be like if I had those powers at my disposal.  From the looks of it, I would cuss a bit while thoroughly enjoying my mate’s body.

This book was one I began writing as a project for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).  I fell in love with the characters and tinkered with this book for over a year before I was happy enough with it to show it to other people.  Then they tore it apart like I asked.  So I rewrote it.  Then I sent it into an editor at Samhain Publishing.  It took me months to believe that email that said they would take the book.

Now I am waiting patiently (not really) for release day on October 1st.
To celebrate and get the word out I am giving away an ARC of my ebook!  Since it is an ebook, international entries are very welcome.  The file would come to your email inbox. Leave a comment below with your email address, and I will pick a winner through Random.org.

Amber Paulson’s wolf has chosen a mate for her, but Amber is not amused with its pick. Jake Meyers might look amazing in a wet T-shirt and have the cheekbones and strong jaw that artists drool over. Too bad he is missing a pulse.

Jake is a vampire, well, mostly. Then a tall, curvy redhead pops up on his radar and something awakens in him. Even though he tries to stay away, Amber gets under his skin, and his vampire/werewolf heritage starts to become more bark and less bite. For the first time, he feels the call of the moon, and he knows it’s all because of Amber Paulson.

Amber’s trying to stay away, and Jake’s trying to not turn furry. They both fail miserably—and with a lot of sweaty and enjoyable property destruction.

By giving in to her mating call, Amber finds out more than she ever wanted to know about herself, her family, and the rogue wolf who took so much from her so long ago. As her past comes back to bite her, she’ll have to decide what she’s willing to give up for her mate. Her home? Her pack? Her…heartbeat?

What would you do for an eBay gift card and you happen to have a spending habit? That's what happened when I did a little interview a few weeks ago. Thanks to my narrator with Audio √Član, Natalya was brought to life and now you can get another preview of how awesome COLLECTED on audiobook will be! Let me know what you think and I'll enter you into a contest for a copy of COLLECTED on audiobook. In one week I will pick a winner.

Something Wicked welcomes the talented and funny Jennifer Malone Wright

Hi everyone. I am so excited to be on Something Wicked today! For those of you who don’t know who I am, I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself first.

I am Jennifer Malone Wright and as far as writing goes I am best known for my Vampire Hunter’s Daughter series. I am also a mother of five kiddos, wife of wonderful man, and lover of the written word. I drink way too much red bull and I live in the beautiful mountains of Northern Idaho.
How was that for an intro? LOL

Lately, I have not been writing quite as much because my kids have been home for the summer. It is really, really, hard to work with all of them running around. But, I have managed to work on two of my short story series. One is called Once Upon A Zombie Apocalypse (FREE right now on Amazon) and the other is the continuation of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter series called The Arcadia Falls Chronicles. I also re-released one of my novels. It was previously titled The Birth of Jaiden but has been re-titled Savior (A Higher Collective Novel.)

Savior is one of those books that has a little bit of everything in it. Vampires, witches, angels, dark angels and vampire slayers. I really enjoyed working on this book again during the re-edit. I first started it so many years ago and I can see how much my writing has grown since I first started writing books. Also, I got to fall in love with my characters in this series all over again.

Would you like to know what Savior is about?

All right, all right, I’ll tell you. Here is the description.

Alexander Lucas is a man of faith, casino owner and vampire. He should be living the Reno high life of riches and immortality. Instead, he wakes each night despising the blood on his hands and begging for a reason to continue on.

The last beat of his heart took place shortly after losing his family to a gruesome and violent death. One snowy night, the creature who had been stalking him finally took his life, in turn giving him the gift of immortality. Yet, immortality to Alex is not a gift, but rather a curse to live in eternal pain.

Nearly a century of tortured existence leads him to a dumpster in a dark alley where he finds a reason for continuing on. Nestled between bits of debris and rubbish a tiny infant wails for help. He calls for his best friend and guardian angel, Danielle, who explains to him that he has been chosen to raise this baby, for she would someday become a very powerful, natural witch. She tells him it is now his job to protect her from the enemy who wants her so badly, yet also to be her father.

Thinking this angel is out of her mind, Alex refuses many times until Danielle convinces him that the enemy, Malcolm and his wife Levine, cannot obtain the child and that they are, indeed attempting to find her. He must keep her safe, because if evil hands raise her than she will grow to possess the power to annihilate them all.

Luckily, Alex is not alone, he has The Higher Collective to assist in his mission. With the combined powers of the Vampires, Angels, Dark Angels, Witches and Warlocks, The Higher Collective prepares for a battle to protect the child from the evil she may possibly inherit.

These are what I have been working on all summer. In between changing diapers and breaking up fights, anyway.

Oh … Speaking of which. I better go get the kid off the kitchen counter.

Thank you so much to the ladies of Something Wicked for having me on. It’s been a blast!

Jennifer Malone Wright is best known for her short story series, The Vampire Hunter's Daughter. Other works include the follow up to The Vampire Hunter's Daughter series called The Arcadia Falls Chronicles and her vampire novel called The Birth of Jaiden. Jennifer also co-authors a series called Once Upon A Zombie Apocalypse.

She resides in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and five children where she practices preparing for the zombie apocalypse. Just kidding!
But seriously, between the craziness of taking care of her children, Jennifer has little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far into the night, is spent working on her beloved fiction or chatting with her equally crazy friends.

Jennifer also loves coffee, has a passionate affair with red bull, wishes the sushi were better where she lives and dances while she cleans.

Headin' Out!

A hectic week, getting ready to leave town with my brainstorming group.  I'm curious...how many of you writers out there have such a group?  Ours meets once a year (oh, how I wish it could be more often!) and there are four of us.  We each have two sessions and in that time, we can discuss any projects we want. Sometimes, we come with pretty well-developed ideas.  Other times, we have just foggy notions of what we want to happen in a story.  Then we start hammering things out.  It's always interesting to me to see the way we work together, the way our ideas sometimes clash and sometimes mesh and always, always produce the seeds of what turns into good pages.

This year I'll be brainstorming two different projects: the first of a new mystery series I just sold to Berkley Prime Crime and book #3 in the League of Literary Ladies mysteries.

Wish me luck!  I'll be gone next Wednesday but the week after, I'll let you know how we did!

The Lotus Palace #1
It is a time of celebration in the Pingkang Li, where imperial scholars and bureaucrats mingle with beautiful courtesans. At the center is the Lotus Palace, home of the most exquisite courtesans in China…
Maidservant Yue-ying is not one of those beauties. Street-smart and practical, she’s content to live in the shadow of her infamous mistress-until she meets the aristocratic playboy Bai Huang.
Bai Huang lives in a privileged world Yue-ying can barely imagine, yet alone share, but as they are thrown together in an attempt to solve a deadly mystery, they both start to dream of a different life. Yet Bai Huang’s position means that all she could ever be to him is his concubine-will she sacrifice her pride to follow her heart?

To enter, just leave a comment (with contact details) and let Shawntelle know if you watch forensic shows and do you have a favorite? If you don't, is there a crime show you've always wanted to check out but never had the time?
